OK - I know it is summertime when we all take things a little slower, but there is a problem in our fare city that has nothing to do with our tourist guests - horrendous driving by our own people...those with "6C" plates. Case in point - yesterday around noon, a Gallatin County driver was stopped in the middle of the road on Rouse, between Main and Babcock, having what appeared to be a heated discussion on her cell phone. All the while there were cars stacked up, honking their horns and making inappropriate gestures. The driver was oblivious and kept her foot on the brake for at least two minutes and gabbed away. Maybe I'm making a rash statement, but I don't think she should have a drivers license. What is wrong with people? Other observations/comments: - Drive the speed limit. I don't know how many times during the day I come upon a 6C plate going 10 mph under the limit. It's like local people are driving as if they were lost. That is dangerous and discourteous....

So lets hear it Bozeman! I have lived in the area for more than fifteen years now and one of the most common complaints I have heard from youngsters is "its so boring here" or " there is nothing to do"! Not so long ago I was one of these kids looking for an out, somewhere to be accepted. Somewhere to meet up with friends and not feel unwelcome. I know you have at least heard about this void in our community I would like to open this up for some discussion and constructive criticism. I have been puting some serious time in renovating a building near the high school on main street with the vision of putting together Bozemans only FREE (non-membership or cover charge) place for teens! Most of my ideas will not be released quite yet in anticipation of building something very special to our town that will benefit the community in every way.
The place does have a small parking area, it is signed and I missed those signs. My fault entirely. $ 150.00 towing and impound fees, ouch. Just so others know.
What's the best/worst pothole you've seen in
Bozeman so far this winter? With the streets
nearly bare due to lack of snow, there's
a good chance you've encountered some.
I am a 27 yr old male looking for a job. If I only knew why I just cant seem to get a job. I was told to apply for every job out there, why would someone do this, ive never gone to school to be a dentist why would someone hire me to do that. It would seem like a waste of time for the employers of all the jobs that i have no training for or experience in doing, to look at my application, they would just through it out anyways. Theres been times in my life where I got the job on the spot, it was so easy that i couldnt believe it. I feel that because im shy, have long hair, and dont dress flashy, and I dont really know how to handle myself in a job interview like most people, that im looked at like im some person who doesnt really care about the job.
I did go to one job where it sounded promising, It was for a vacume...
So I gave the owner or the managers plenty of time to return my calls in which they have obviously chosen not to. Maybe this will get their attention. If not, at least the word will be out about their business practices. First off, a little background on myself. I am not a bar hopper and am far from a regular drinker. I have frequented the Cat's Paw for the last few years since moving here, but usually have a beer or two and lunch since it's right up the road from where I work. They have great food and drinks for a reasonable price. Friday night, myself, my husband and a couple friends decided to go out for a few drinks after the Hunting and Fishing Expo at the Fairgrounds. Since we were planning on sticking around for a couple hours, we decided to run a tab. My husband drank the $1.75 beer specials, my friends drank bottled beer and her husband also had a couple double rum and cokes. Myself, I drank 2 double rum and cokes and switched over to singles and had 4 of them. When it was close for us to leave,...
and you will find a four-drachma coin. Take it and give it to them for my tax and yours."

I was born in raised in Bozeman and and I can not believe how this recession has hurt so many people. Its time to move to the forest this spring and start over. We need to start support groups to help and understand every body's feeling about how they feel. We need to get togather and we will survive togather. You are not alone about what is happening to you . Let's talk!!!
Last Friday was the last day of my 6 year tour with the United States Navy. Leading up to that day, the thought was bittersweet. But on that day, it was all bitter. The next day would be sweet, the new beginning, out with the old, in with the new, but that day, it was difficult. At my shop I finished up some paperwork, took some pictures and said my goodbyes. Everything had to brief; the emotion in my throat was threatening to spill out into my eyes at any minute, all day long. I was hoping the heartfelt slaps on the back and hugs would bring some closure; they didn't. One particularly perceptive fellow looked at me and said, "Don't cry. I can see it welling up, don't do it!" Bastard! I grabbed my things, hurried to my car and pulled myself together. But I couldn't bring myself to leave my base. Not yet. I wanted to wear the uniform just a little bit longer. I drove over to my old aircraft hangar and wandered around. Not too many of the old group I worked with were there. I relived some memories of long nights...
When the pigeons run, from a tree losing its roots, or two arms, and take back the place where they grew up. The top of any building from the 20’s, this case the story mills, the windows are still broken. I ask myself “could someone live up there with the birds, the fish bones of Bozeman creek, the filth of whatever is left." Rotted bed springs that had taken the Lewis and Clark trail, inch to miles to other states and years across rivers and mountains to small cabins, or stacking in asbestos basements of working mans houses. The blankets that winter makes with ease on its own time, sticking, and standing out as such a raw range of emotions. Sometimes I have a panic-attack late at night when I know there is a storm-warning on weather.com, and the snow is just really pushing down the throat of Bozeman. How I feel when I get cut in line, how childish I act, pushing and shoving and talking about my youth. Nostalgia, that is so important, yet so distant and meaningless to those around me. The cell...
I know there are many on this forum who have served and many who have loved ones who have served. THANK YOU for your contribution to our freedom.
Halloween used to be celebrated as All Hallows Eve, the eve of Nov. 1, All Saints Day. Let's think of some saints, living or dead, canonized or not,
personally known to us or not and tell their stories. It could be family member, friend, mentor, educator, public figure, historical figure, even a fictional character whose story/life made a difference in yours. If you can't think of anyone, may/can you be that someone to another person.
Here I name two parents--good people who married young, raised four healthy, upstanding citizens who contribute to the USA and work to continue the
tradition. Like all people, they struggled, survived but most of all never gave up. They stayed married and made the changes necessary to keep going.
They had hope in the future, themselves, the goodness of most people and
a Creator who had a bigger purpose. Does Thanksgiving have a meaning without
someone to be thankful to for something thankful for. Think on these things.
Hello Bozeman, Hello again Storyhills, hello M, hello Baldy, hello cemetary, good bye L street, good bye old brewery, good bye my favorite cop (thanks for all the basketball), good bye small police station, good bye North Wallace, Good bye friends house next to Hawthorne, good bye Fly-fishing alone, good bye farmer who let me walk forever in the alfalfa fields, good bye bridger creek, good bye no leash law, good bye folf course at lindley, good bye golf driving-range near campus, good bye burning building on Broadway, good bye dirt roads, good bye powder days at Bridger Bowl, good bye drive through movie theater on 7th, good bye waterslide on 7th, good bye story mills. I hope you will return soon, but understand if this isn't possible. I swear, I meant to write something profoundly intellectual that made everybody happy.
I would like to give a little shout out to the POS that put a sticker on my shop window for a white supremacist music company. If I ever caught you, I'd be fetching my own rope. I am so disgusted!!!!!!!!!!

Those of you out there who like to verbally persecute Christians - I pray that no one sees the day that our country follows the lead of other countries in which Christians are not merely persecuted verbally, but put to death for their beliefs, as in the following story that appeared in today's Chronicle: (repeated here in part) North Korean Executed for Distributing Bible A Christian woman accused of distributing the Bible, a book banned in communist North Korea, was publicly executed last month for the crime, South Korean activists said Friday. The 33-year-old mother of three, Ri Hyon Ok, also was accused of spying for South Korea and the United States, and of organizing dissidents, a rights group said in Seoul, citing documents obtained from the North. The Investigative Commission on Crime Against Humanity report included a copy of Ri's government-issued photo ID and said her husband, children and parents were sent to a political prison the day after her June 16 execution. . While you are busy...
I know I'm a little (or very) late on this, but then again, it's never to late even after the event is over. Check the cool commercial... And support your community. GO LOCAL!
Finally!!! Summer is here! Woo hoo!!! But just a reminder for humans: please remember that in the warmer months cars heat up exceptionally fast! And they are much hotter than the outside temperature; if it is 80 degrees outside, it will be 90+ inside the car. Even in a matter of minutes, dogs can suffer from heat stroke, dehydration, and even death. Please leave your pets at home when it is warm/hot outside! And those who still let their dogs ride in the back of trucks: also remember that the metal (or even bedliners) can get very hot - so hot that is burns paws. Either leave them at home or park your truck in the shade. I have seen dogs lifting up their paws, just trying not to burn them! And anyone who witnesses this going on - don't hesitate to contact Animal Control; it may save a dog's life.
when i am driving in Belgrade up the street from where i live off of Jackrabbit, honking at me to hurry and pull out in front of a vehicle five to ten feet away on a busy highway to four corners . AND driving around your vehicle when there behind you because your not pulling out fast enough for them in front of vehicle five to ten feet away ,NEED STOLIGHT AT JACKRABBIT AND FRANK ROAD JUST LIKE THE ONE ON EXIT TO BOZEMAN TO GET 7TH.
Four way stops in belgrade should be a thing of the past. The four way stop at Main and Broadway is horrible at 5:00 pm, and made worse when there is a train. there should be a stop light there. I have seen the traffic backed up all the way to lee & dads.
I think it is rude when I sit there and hear people honk at people when they are sitting at a red light waiting to turn right on red and they can not go because of heavy fast moving traffic on Jackrabbit lane in belgrade or main street in bozeman. This is how car accidents happen. RIGHT ON RED MAY BE A LAW, THAT IS NO EXCUSE TO PUSH OTHER DRIVERS WHEN YOU ARE IN A HURRY TO GET SOMEWHERE.

“From time to time people ask, ‘Well are you upset because you spent nineteen seasons in the major leagues and you're known for primarily stopping two people from burning the flag?’ If that's all you're known for, it's not a bad thing at all.” Happy Flag Day. |
