I had a very similar experience as Art. My husband and I couldn't find our cat one night for a few hours, but he eventually showed up. When he did he had a terrible limp, and his paw was clearly swollen. I was worried he had broken his leg, so I opened up the yellow pages and called all of the places that offered night services. Two of them told me they would not help me unless I was already a client of their services. I called Faithful Friends, and Dr. Rains agreed to meet us at the clinic at 9 pm. He also didn't charge us for service that night. The cat was fine, and now we take all of our animals there (2 cats and a dog). I HIGHLY recommend the clinic!
I couldn't agree more with Megan. A few years ago my aging dog had am emergency in the middle of the night that required immediate attention. Dr Rains was not my vet at the time, but he was willing to get up in the middle of the night to attend to the emergency because I could not contact my usual vet. It was the case that my dog had to be put down, but this was made so much easier as the result of the compassion he demonstrated. And he didn't take a dime for all his efforts. I've just now become a dog owner again. Needless to say who my vet will be.
