Lingering Olympic Questions

1. Should the USA let it's hockey players back in the country after the loss to Canada?

2. Do you think Lindsay Vonn really is sorry that Manuso had to stop her ski run because of her crash?

3. Is figure skating really a sport because they call what they do performances, and because they wear costumes?

4. Do you suspect that people who do curling probably usually drink beer when participating in that?

5.  When all they do is help the bobsled to get moving, why do members of the team other than the driver have to ride in the thing?

6.  Why can't skiiers in the biathlon be able to use their guns on racers who are trying to pass them?

One more: When the members of your hockey team are born in Canada but live in the US, who gets the gold and who gets the silver?
I don't have the answers to your questions, Art ... bygixa4 months ago (3 votes) (report abuse) (reply)
... but I had to laugh when I came across this today. I think it's a good illustration for your point number 3.

Do you ice skate? bycwrite4 months ago (1 votes) (report abuse) (reply)
If you can ice skate at all, you know
that those young skaters are making
something that is hard look easy.
The costumes are for the spectators
who like to be entertained.
Skating is the only event I watch
with any serious interest in Winter
Olympics. Curling is too slow and
the rest too fast. I like to be
able to see what happened in a slow
mo replay. Downhill racers are the
only ones having fun. It makes me
tense just watching.
Vonn's Gold revoked. byEd.4 months ago (2 votes) (report abuse) (reply)
Obama was going "downhill" faster.

4) YES, they are required to drink 6 pints per hour while competing.
5) YES, weight equals speed.
6) They can, but have one second added to their time if they do, and five seconds if they only wound their opponent.

Gixa: Somehow I managed to escape the Olympics without watching any Ice Dancing. Which doesn't mean I have a life. I almost watched it once but Lawence Welk reruns were on PBS at the same time.
Cwrite: No question skating is difficult and one has to be athletic. But even you called it an "event" and not sport.
Citizenpain: On number 6, if they are effective with their weapons, added time should not matter if they are the only biathelete still standing.
