Sooper Bowl

I actually met someone today who is not from Indiana who is rooting for the Colts in the Super Bowl.  Because the Saints have never won the Super Bowl and because the city of New Orleans really deserves something to celebrate, I kind of assumed that to want the Colts required one to be from Indiana.  Of course, Indiana doesn't have much going for it either. Other than the fact it's not Ohio.  No one else around here, wants the Colts, right?

I would have liked to have seen the Jets play the Colts, sort of a re-match of the 68 Super Bowl.

Since the Jets couldn't make it and I used to live in Indy (about 100 years ago it seems) then I would really like to see a good, close game in which the Saints win at the last second.

I'm a Vol, so of course I am going to root for Payton (my future ex-husband) and the Colts...BUT...I won't have a problem if the Saints win it because this is their first Superbowl. It's going to be a good game I think because the Saints will want it pretty badly, but I think the Colts will win it.

As a former Hoosier, i'm definitely rooting for the Colts. But if the Saints win, I'll be happy for them. Drew Brees is an awesome quarterback, and they are definitely my second choice for Super Bowl champs. And I grew up in West Lafayette, and remember when Drew was the quarterback at Purdue, so it's a win win for me as a fan.

I don't care who wins.
Just am glad when it's over.

In as much as I want the Saints, I think they either win a close one or they get blown out.
Saints 34. Dolts 31.
But agreed cwrite. I'm ready for football to be over. I misplaced the remote.
Peyton near perfection. Brees pure art. byLiberal Doses5 months ago (2 votes) (report abuse) (reply)
Two great quarter backs one lousy half-time performance choice. If they play Eminence Front it might be tolerable. More dry skeletons from the musty hippie era. Some revolution baby.

Tea leaves and bones tell me Art has the numbers right.

Super grumping byArt5 months ago (1 votes) (report abuse) (reply)
LD: Probably a whole different post could be devoted to naming over rated groups. The Super Bowl seems to have a plan for booking those. The Who is on my list for sure, as is Springsteen.
Even if the Saints completely dominate time of possession, I'm expecting to see Manning on the TV a lot more. If not playing, then pitching or selling something.

I have seen the Who and Springsteen live.

The Who was a good show, Springsteen was blow your socks off terrific.

Unfortunately this was in the late 70s. Both are now pale shadows of their former glory.

Super Bowl 1/2 time shows are always a good time to eat dinner. My favorite was the Super Bowl 4, the 1969 game where they re-enacted the Battle of New Orleans on the field.

34-31 with the winning field goal on the final drive would be just peachy.
All in all byRightof Left5 months ago (0 votes) (report abuse) (reply)
a pretty good game. Not the barn burner that was last year but a fine performance.

And yes, glad Football season is over.

In my opinion, all pro sports could benefit from cutting the seasons by a month. It all goes on a bit too long.
31-17 not 34-31 bycwrite5 months ago (0 votes) (report abuse) (reply)
And it is over.
Except for the reruns
of the commercials online.
Sick sick sick.
Yea! Saints byArt5 months ago (2 votes) (report abuse) (reply)
I thought it was a great game. I thought Brees would have to play exceptionally well for the Saints to win and he did better than that.
ROL, and LD: The Who really did stink it up didn't they? It's probably the first time that I'd prefer vocalists lip sync. Maybe next year they can get Herman's Hermits or the Dave Clark Five. What they should really do is get some real talent and bring in the Bozeman Hawk Marching Band.
Great game byLiberal Doses5 months ago (1 votes) (report abuse) (reply)
Art,

The game was great. I like the risky moves the Saints took. Regarding The Who. They did stink. When you get to a certain age you just can't cut it in that industry. I saw the Stones about decade ago and I thought they should be getting out soon.

How about bringing in the The Drive-By Truckers?

Peace

Enjoyed the game (more in the second half) and was happy for the Saints.

RE: The Who's performance
There wasn't a lot of energy on that stage. Teenage Wasteland seemed a particularly unfortunate choice because it just accentuated how far they were from that youthful, spirited time.

It made me wistful for Prince.

That was good gixa. That guy is so talented musicianship wise. A multi-instrumentalist and a good singer.
