Bison Business

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/34907854/ns/us_news-environment/ Should Ted Turner be allowed to provide a home for the YNP bison overflow AND keep most of the offspring? On the surface, it sounds like a great/shrewd business deal.

Cwrite,

It is a savvy deal. Turner is a genius when it comes to this sort of thing. You see, he pals up with the environmentalists. Becomes one of their strongest advocates. This positions him perfectly to drive the cattle industry out of business as many environmentalists, vegans, fruitarians, Peta, etc. despise the cattle industry. Being that the natural resources portion of the Government is by and large managed by environmental advocates he gets the edge. He owns around 2.5 million acres on 14 ranches in 7 states(somebody check these numbers for me, I read that a while ago). I think he means to eventually get bison on most of it. With him getting to keep the offspring he essentially makes $$$ off of public owned stock. He also grabs the end of the product chain by opening "Teds." The environmentalists will keep putting pressure on the cattle industry until it closes and Ted will be the one and only Buffalo Baron of Bozeman MT in the country. And liberal minions, outfitted with the wool of sheep deemed "green" will apres at Teds, like ROL will gladly pay $10 million for a bison burger and frys. They satisfy their diet as well as their eco-guilt.

1. What else can be done with the YNP Bison? It seems that the park herd is at the maximum size.
2. The locals ranchers in the area are worried about losing their brucellosis free status and the Bison will pretty well go where they want.
3. The article you linked to (thanks BTW) pretty well lays out both sides.

So, I feel that at this time there is no rush to make a deal with Ted and that a final decision can wait. Right now there are plenty of Bison already on the Spanish Creek ranch.

Had a beef burger last night, first one in about a year. I still prefer Bison to Cow.

I have my own thoughts about Ted. Expand on yours a bit. Why don't you like Mr. Turner?

Never met Ted Turner.
Have heard a number of
people around town knock him.
He's a wheeler dealer, they say
too rich for his own good.
I like the Grill.

Ted is the largest rancher in the US, or something like that. He really is the biggest waste of space.

Why do you hate ranchers?

Do you want to put the cattle industry out of business?
RE: thankfully not immortal bycwrite6 months ago (0 votes) (report abuse)
Is it Ted or his ranch that
is the biggest "waste of space?"
We need food production and
there will always be meat eaters.
Are you a vegie-terryanne.
Looks like ted got the herd. byRightof Left5 months ago (0 votes) (report abuse) (reply)
