Going for the Gold byMontanaVoter9 months ago (0 votes) (report abuse) (reply)
Bozeman might not have enough beds, yet. Right now, a group is forming to look at the possibility.

I think it would be an awesome poll for the chronicle to do though!

Don't do that. Most days this town can't support the number of hotel rooms we have already. Ask the mom & pops how they feel about building 1000+ more rooms for a two-week event before you decide what's best for our economy. If Bozeman needed more hotel rooms for the day-to-day that eyesore on N 7th would have been finished long ago.

Also, SLC had the option to upgrade the I-15 to deal with traffic, but could you imagine the carnage on 191? Thanks, but no.

Good to know I'm not the only one who thinks that is an insance idea. It would be the final nail in the coffin.
can't think of a single byMTMountainGirl9 months ago (0 votes) (report abuse) (reply)
good reason to even consider it. Thought the whole idea of living in Montana was to escape the "BS" that goes with big city stuff. Whatever happened to the great notion of telling everyone how bad/long the winters are? Why invite more people to discover Montana? I remember the sign in the Cannery back in the 80's "don't californicate montana"... is it still there? (We obviously don't get out much anymore or I guess I would know the answer to my question) Besides, once the potential influx left minus those who "discovered" paradise, what would be done with all the neccessary venues that had been built? Grain storage?

how much do you think Bridger would raise their season pass price to after the Olympics left town?? Would they still be a non-profit entity? And how would all the hard core skier locals take to being potentially shut out of their skiing days while events were taking place? I raise this as a non skier altho the hubby is RABID about getting in his days
Don't have the infrastructure... byalamator9 months ago (0 votes) (report abuse) (reply)
to handle that kind of traffic, security, athletes and fans. You can't find a decent place to rent now.
Thanks for the Honest opinions. byMontanaVoter9 months ago (0 votes) (report abuse) (reply)
I'll let the group know - not a good idea...
Oh but just think by6guns9 months ago (1 votes) (report abuse) (reply)
of all the money and jobs we could create getting ready. I can see it now (twilight zone music playing in the background)giant arenas being built to hold 100,000 people, a new ski jump ramp off frog mountain, learning how to say sacagewega in 40 different languages. I hope the 7th street hotel is done on time. Woodstock 50 might be a better choice.

" learning how to say sacagewega in 40 different languages"

Classic !!!!

I think it could be done, but what to do with all the domes, ski jumps and huge hotels after the people are gone.

The National Finals Rodeo is but once a year.
