I think someone who went to jail for something as unforgivable as abusing animals and not to mention-gambling should not be in the position of a role model. Let alone getting paid millions for it.

I think it makes the NFL look really bad.

thank you, cowgirl! these people (athletes) are SUCH HUGE role models
i don't understand why anyone would want to hire him
now can we please stop giving him attention? i for one wont be tuning in to any of him games :P~

yes he did the 'time,' but what was it again? prison/jail time? was he ordered to any community service?

sorry, can't help being a judgy-mcjudgerson on this one, it makes my stomach turn.

Have to go w/alamator on this one. Besides, I personally feel Americans would be better off abandoning the notion of athletes as role models, whether for their morals or their career choice. Sure they are talented people, but when you get down to it, they are paid according to how much ad revenue they can generate. Don't like the message, don't buy the products. The sponsors & owners will respond to that.

He did the crime and he did the time. He is FREE to do whatever he wants and if someone is willing to pay him money to play football he will do so!
I think what he did is wrong by the way.
Who? What? Why? bycwrite11 months ago (4 votes) (report abuse) (reply)
Who is Michael Vick.
Some sort of sports figure?
Isn't there a separate area for
sports conversation on this website.
If not, there should be. It's like
the Sports Section of the BDC.
Some of us pull it out and wrap
the garbage in it without ever
even looking at the pictures.
I do know what NFL stands for, however.

I just find it funny that this post is here.

Steve Vick is a convicted felon and we as a society put so much emphasis on weather he is reinstated into the NFL. we as a society put so much into sports and sport figures that we forget the basics of education, ethics, morals, and family.

there is no sport figure which i look up to as a role model, like our society makes them out to be. I do not want to have my children look up to a man who is a convicted felon and say they want to be like him, but we will support a convicted felon and pay him millions of dollars to play a sport, while parents are struggling to make ends meat in todays economy. What does that teach our kids?
