whatever happened to 'Independence Day?'

i was just watching nbc news with brian williams, and he says '..you wont believe what they discovered in england, just days before our 4th..'
helloo. saturday will be the 4th of july everwhere in the world. here, it is INDEPENDENCE DAY.

i thought it was a little more valid than say, someone's anguish from getting 'honked' at. oy. maybe i should just quit, before starting an argument?
