Wikipedia disagrees with you on that. The origins pre-date greeting cards, though Hallmark certainly has benefitted from the day. I've always thought that Valentines today was too commerialized and that started at a very young age. At school we were not allowed to had out just one card. It was either to the whole class (including fellow boys) or not at all. So besides having to hand those out to boys, in order to get one in the hands of Christine Chamberlain, I also had to give one to Penny Engloff. |

If you have a sweetheart or longtime love, Valentine's Day is a sweet reason to treat them special. Otherwise, it's just another day for the rest. |

You should treat the one you love special EVERY day, not just Feb 14! It's just another day to me and my hubby. |
