Beware of Viruses!

Watch out for Trojan viruses - my computer caught one. I could have "pinged" it to find out where it came from - next time I will. Hope I'm not being paranoid, but I suspect someone who didn't like my views may have tried to send me this virus. If there is a next time, I will report it.

Hang in there, AlphaBeagle. It wasn't from me. That isn't the way I roll. I'm all about brow beating and bad mouthing; I'm not great with unleashing computer nastiness.

I'll admit it, it was me...I was just so offended by your Olympics stance I couldn't help myself....just kidding, but really, that sucks!! Are you sure it was someone that deliberatly targeted you and not just some snafu?

Either way, I hope it doesn't happen again!!!
I assume....... byPooterman4 months ago (0 votes) (report abuse) (reply)
I assume you are joking regarding getting it from this site, but just in case that is not likley. First, the ability of someone unhappy with your views to send you a virus through the web (not email) would not be as easy as simply saying look for AlphaBeagle. That said, there appears (to me) to be a rash of web based Trojan attacks lately. I keep fighting one that is trying to attack my system at work. I have not yet figured out who it is that is visiting what ever website is causing this, but if I do.........

The one I am dealing with appears to be out of China and although my research indicated it was not a new Trojan, that it had been around for a few years I did notice a fair amount of infections being reported just recently. Good luck removing this thing.

tiredofbeingjudged: Go to www.microsoft.com/protect/computer/viruses/rats.mspx to find out more about these malicious viruses, used by criminals to access your files to steal information and do other harm.
P.S. - Don't go to other websites! byAlphaBeagle4 months ago (0 votes) (report abuse) (reply)
Don't go to other websites listing info about trojan viruses. They could be sites that are actually trying to get you to open them so they can download a virus.

You might be able to get a virus from a website. People at YouTube have made attempts, for example. You need a firewall. Trojan viruses get in through IP addresses using software and the criminal makes an attempt to hack. Viruses, including trojans, can get in through e-mails. You should have a scanning program to scan e-mails, particularly with attachments.
