| They are carnivorous pack animals and without management, they have the ability to harm ranches, the elk population, deer population, bison etc etc... | |

| Everything has it's place, and I think since the government has imposed these non-native carnivores on us, they should allow us to make sure that our pets and livestock are safe from them. Wolves were never completely eradicated, just "educated". They came to fear man and learned to stay away for the most part. As the fourth generation of a ranch family near here, our motto is "Shoot, shovel, and Shut-up". | |

| The wolf is a vicious predator and should be eradicated. They often kill not for food but for pleasure. I've seen the results of their actions and it's not good. They have been known to kill multiple animals and maybe take a bite or 2 out of each dead body and leave it to go onto another one. I know although I don't do much hunting anymore I'm going to get myself a wolf this year. I hope that judge, who put a halt to the hunt this year, comes to his senses and allows it. | |

| I don't think there will be hunts for the wolf this year since it's still considered experimental management by Montana FWP. I work pretty closely with them and can say that they haven't become too big of a danger just yet. | ||

| I hope you aren't saying that wolves "haven't become too big of danger just yet". I know people who have lost livestock and pets to wolves in the Madison, and last fall there were attacks and kills on sheep near Phillipsburg. They are out of control and are only going to get worse! | |

What I meant was that they aren't as big of a problem as they could be if we don't put forth a hunting program to manage their numbers. Because the introduction of wolves is still experimental and are getting integrated, there won't be a season this year. Another reason is because the decision to delist the wolf was halted and is now in limbo. So if you believe the wolf is a danger etc then please attend the community hearings. Unfortunately there are a lot of people with good intentions, but none that get off their 4th point of contact to act! If you know people who are having issues with wolves, they need to contact either the FWP or USDA wildlife services to learn ways to deter them from harrassing and killing their livestock and/or pets. If they have confirmed kills then they can contact the Livestock Loss Reimbursement and Mitigation Program Coordinator in Helena. |

| Aren't they just giant German Shepherds? Maybe if the government spent more time training them to "sit" and "stay" we wouldn't be in such a tight spot with them. | |

I think the safe bet is he is kidding. A good one, too, but it doesn't prove or disprove your local idiots theory. That's a whole other issue. Danie, if you included "play dead" as part of that training more people would be on board! |

Sorry, I was just joking around. I know the wolf thing is a serious issue for the ranchers. They still look like giant German Shepherds. |
