Budget cuts and where...and other random thoughts

Yes its true...now lets see people with little to no life write posts about the titles of my posts....
First of all I believe that yes "everyone is entitled to my opinion" Secondly, I think that there is enough money to fill all the money coffers, you just need to break all of the non essential ones first.

Ok, lets start with the non essential programs that the city gives out.

1. Lets cut out all the politically correct programs from our schools. You know, the ones that you and I had to sit through, you smile nod and after class you write some stupid report and say what you think the teacher wants to hear, rather than what you think. I could name them, but I think you get the picture...

Sub thought about schools, take away all the alternative High schools. Listen people, everybody knows that you can't do crap with your life without a HS diploma. The parents know it, the kids know it, the community knows it. Trust me, it isn't my job to get your kid through hs its yours and your kids. Believe me, ask any of my classmates, they will tell you that Johnbrownraider missed more days than just about anyone, however, I still managed to get all the work in and graduate with a decently GPA. But back to alternative schools, listen I will fund one public education, but if you don't care enough about your future, and you like flipping burgers at McDys then have fun with your life, because honestly I don't care about your future either! If you screw up, I built this really nice prison down the road...

Listen your probably all mad, and pissed off, and pulling your hair out, wishing you knew where I lived, but the fact stands, alternative hs are nothing more than a bunch of political correctness crap. "Oh, but Johnbrownraider my kid has a hard time paying attention!" So? That means they need to study harder! Listen, not all of us are gifted with being math quizzes or what ever subject. Hey, but not all of us can dunk a basketball either, so if you are not naturally athletic, you practice harder, if you aren't naturally smart then you study harder. Some kids I knew in hs could pass tests with out even trying, me, I had to study hard core. Life isn't fair, get used to it, and get rid of the alternative schools. Tired of paying for them. (I would rather pay for a park that I could walk around and yell every time I stepped in dog crap.)

2. Jail. Listen, the fact is that the city can't come up with a plug nickel for the jail, but would love it if the tax payers made it a present to the city. Listen commissioners this isn't hs where the graduating class leaves the school a gift, because we aren't graduating and you aren't a school. But moving on, the fact stands that the people have voted down your proposals like 3 times (not sure on the number) so maybe, just maybe its time to take the ax to that idea. "Oh, but Johnbrownraider we have so many criminals, people do DUI need to be locked up." I'm not so sure, ever think of impounding their vehicle? I don't know, there are other ways to punish people, house arrest, probation, community service, deportation, and the list marches on. In my opinion only the worst of the worst need to be locked up, like rapist, murders, chi-mos, terrorists, dirty cops and so on. But alas we get to watch the commissioners burn through millions trying to simply get designs draw for it...yeah, real smart. I guess we pay them to spend our money not how to conserve it.

The johnbrownraider idea on how to cut down on crime, is pass a law or at least give better incentives to gun owners. That every person should have a shotgun. They don't have to load it, or even keep it accessible. Just the knowledge that every house has a gun should cut crime. Trust me, a study showed that the number one fear of someone breaking into a house is that behind the door is a guy (or gal) with a gun (weapon in general: Knife, hot boiling oil, frying pan, dog (and not the cute fluffy kind but the big mean, bite you kind), rabid cat, shovel...) The basic idea is that people always want to stick other people in jail and throw away the key. WHY! That costs me money, only the worst of the worst go to jail.

3. Stupid people with dumb ideas. Over by the gas station, called Casey Corner they decided that it would be a wise idea to put a median in the road allowing only right hand turns. They even placed a sign telling you about the right hand turns only. Well as you can imagine for the most part people were annoyed at the median and either drove through the gas station to the other exit or simple (like I did) turned left. Now after wasting all that money putting the sign and median in, you would think that who ever did that would want to watch their investment. But no, alas one day, about two weeks later the construction crews came back and removed the median. Now in my book, the placing of the median was a huge waste of money, but the bigger one was the paying more money to remove it. I guess the thought of simply taking the right turn only sign down was to simple of a task. (Especially when you have millions of tax dollars you just HAVE to spend.)

3. Story Mansion. The fact remains that the city commissioners can't even put bread on the table, but they are paying someone for cake...Layman terms is the fact remains that they are retarded beyond measure for holding an asset that won't generate money, but will cost them a fortune. They should sell the place and use the money to maintain other parks, museums, or other city projects. Fixing the schools comes to mind.

4. Over use of police. Last night me, and several friends (including a DD) decided to hit the town, now, I am not a huge bar attender, I have probably gone 2 or 3 times in the past year. But any way, I went down and was surprised with the sheer number of police out on patrol ready to break up any fights that may occur. Now, it is my opinion that there are some times that there is justifiable cause to attack someone. I, being young and vibrant believe that you overly flirting with my girlfriend or female companion is justifiable cause to punch you. Usually if you get hit one time it doesn't effect you or your attitude, but if you get the hell beat out of you, maybe you will think about either getting your own gf or not hitting on his. So maybe we should have just enough police to break up the fight once there is a clear winner. Secondly, why do we have to hall both of them off to jail, why not break it up and either write them a citation right then or just let them go on their merry way. It was just a fight, probably the guy deserved it anyway. He didn't ask him to flirt with his gf, he was just reacting to the other guys disrespect of her. Justifiable cause if you ask me.

5. Foolish laws. As history tells us the FBN first director did not believe the the department could not make enough arrests off only cocaine and heroin (the two primary drugs at the time) so they made marijuana illegal. But we have all read those posts so I won't elaborate beyond saying that it is still true.

More dumb laws that might be on the books: A certain number of Indians with weapons is considered a war party and can be killed...heard that from a friend not too sure about its authenticity.

6. Commissioners. I believe that for the most part they are foolish. I further believe that we should not call them a commission but rather a congress. Why would you want to call them a congress....because John Adams said so....

"I have come to the conclusion that one useless man is called a disgrace, that two are called a law firm - and that three or more become a Congress." -John Adams-

AND WE HAVE 5!!!!(more than that, just 5 on the commission)

We folks there you have it, my opinions on the amazing job of our commissioners and the hard work that they put into their jobs...hopefully next time elections come around they won't have jobs for the most part.

A little far fetched.... bychopsui2 months ago (0 votes) (report abuse) (reply)
For the most part I found the points to be far out. However there is a lot of waste.

Commissioners = one big joke bymitchelmauschen2 months ago (0 votes) (report abuse) (reply)
I must say, I thoroughly enjoy reading your posts!

I must also say, this jail 'issue' gets old, first nobody wants the jail built anywhere...in Bozeman. Maybe they should just build it in Belgrade...and, as a Belgrade resident, I'd approve it...they could even funnel a little of the bail money for the drunks to the city of Belgrade and that would be a-okay with me! Second, people freak out every time a new building cost for the jail comes up...the prices go up...hmmmm...concept, you put it off long enough the cost will be more astronomical than it was the last time, and time before and time before that. Maybe the solution would be to build one big drunk tank...that's my main concern anyway, getting hit by some drunken yahoo!

And those commissioners...my gawd (yes, I did intend to spell it that way!)...could the Story Mansion be anymore of a debacle? I remember in my college days that thing being a frat house and nobody was too concern about it's historical value and turning it into a park or art center. The commissioners need to remember they were elected by 'the people' and it's high time they started talking to those 'people' and quit trying to turn Bozeman and the Gallatin Valley into their perceived Eden!
