| I think if "Joe" wants to remodel a bit, that's fine, but I'd hate to lose the casual atmosphere of the place. It's always a great place to get a drink and a bite to eat while watching a game. | |

Poor house.

| The only reason they even began tearing it up is because there was a pipe that broke and flooded the bar, ruining everything. That was the word on the street anyway, and it made sense seeing as how it was open one night, then the next night, without warning it was closed for repairs. | |

The remodeling was in the works, but yes the tearing up started earlier because of a water pipe burst. Now it's even better for Joe to pay for everything since most will be covered by insurance. My question where are us downtowners supposed to go now? |

| The remodel had NOTHING to do with pipes bursting. Downstairs (Zebra/Colonel Blacks) remodel was because of burst pipes. The Pour House was not affected. So NO Joe did not have all of this covered by insurance, in fact NONE of it was. Joe made the decision to spend ALOT of money on a remodel that would beautify one of Bozeman's LOCAL businesses. He is in no way attempting to be another Boodles. I realize that your posts were made a month ago, but have any of you bothered to check it out? He managed to update and clean up his business while still maintaining much of the historical charm of the old Bozeman Hotel where it is located. The Pour House is just as comfortable and in fact now boasts twelve flat screen tvs where you can sit back and enjoy the game. If you "downtowners" are going to condemn a business for trying to better itself, then "my question" is....what have YOU done to better your community? If your biggest concern is where you're going to get a "drink and a bite to eat while watching a game" then why don't you check out Joe's other establishment? Another LOCAL business....Spectators, which is the epitomy of sports bars. During this time of struggling economy and rising prices, when chain restaurants threaten to take over our lovable local businesses Joe Demanski dared to do something that many of his peers have been afraid to do. He put his livelyhood on the line to make a local business better. But, yes, I can see why you would condemn him for that. After all, where are YOU supposed to go now? | |

Look. Relax. I have been to the new Pour House and i don't like it. It looks and now acts the same at the R Bar. The rumors of the upscale "Boodles type" bar were wrong but the pour house atmosphere is gone. You have to sit closer to the doors with no middle area. groups of more than 6 are almost impossible to accommodate and the whole energy of the area is messed with and broken up by the middle bar. I know about spectators and i enjoy it, though i prefer to stay within walking distance of my home when enjoying an alcoholic beverage and i live on the northeast side of town. That is what i do for the community, I walk and shop at Heebs, i shop at the farmers markets, I frequent the downtown restaurants and some stores (although many are out of my price range now). The Pour House has put themselves on the same level at the R Bar, 317 and Mixers. If that was Joe's goal well good for him--he accomplished it. Honestly, i bought i bigscreen and my friend come to my place now. Where we eat our Angus burgers and drink our Bozone beer. |
