Quiet! Mayor Jacobson and her gods have spoken...

Here are a few of Kaaren's quotes regarding the "Story Mansion" in today's Chronicle. Kaaren is the Guest columnist. She has spoken regarding taxpayer opinions, questions, and concerns. Read the article and then note Kaaren's excessive use of the word "We" 15 times as she refers to herself and the godly commissioners specifically, NOT you the taxpayer.

"Contrary to what some believe,...". Here's another impressive quote regarding taxpayer opinions, "Some have questioned why we(she and the gods)are not leaving open, simultaneously, other options, such as private purchase. BUT THIS WOULD SEND CONFUSING SIGNALS TO THE PUBLIC, making a capital campaign impossible."

Mayor Kaaren Jacobson, and the city gods, have found there is absolutely no need to CONFUSE the lowly serfs, who serve only to fill the coffers.

The definition of "restore," has nothing to do with what Jacobson and the gods are planning. Jacobson should have used the word "destroy," instead of "restore," because when Jacobson and the city gods finish off the mansion, it will be just another tacky office building 2008 style, NOT a "Single Family Restored Residence."

Mayor Jacobson, we also appreciate you being upfront with us, putting us in our places, and knowing that our voices will not be heard. We are keenly aware that our opinions are nothing but a nuisance to you, and the other self appointed but admittedly elected gods. We'll remember this at election time.

Leave? We just got here! I have never observed or experienced such irresponsible, overreaching politicians trying to emmulate California ideals before coming here. There are over 100 million dollars of capitol improvements and what to the ivory towered nobles want to do? Restore Nelson and Ellen Story'd little boys' house. It is not just the cost it is the manager needed, it is no more tax dollars from private ownership and it is putting the Bon Ton historic district on the auction block for commercial development. And it is all done in the dark of night with cute little lies that would bring legal action in most places.

Good post, berrymountain.

I have heard/read her comments about the mansion before and I don't buy it for a second. I think it is clear that the mayor doesn't represent the majority/the taxpayers of this city. I still think she has an underlying agenda for this place at our expense.

I have no desire to move;I like it here (so does berrymountain, I bet). I only want my elected officials to listen to the majority. I also want my tax money to be spent wisely and sensibly. Is that too much to ask?
Well, thank ya' very much... byberrymountain June 09, 2008 (0 votes) (report abuse) (reply)
I remember when school funding, teacher salaries, law enforcement, water, sewer, etc. were important.

Seems like we read much about lack of funding, but when we really get to the bottom of things, it's whose in control.

Take a peek at Mrs. Claus farmers market post. Check out the BAHA site. They're asking for $500,000.00.

I appreciate hockey, but no more than any other extra cirricular activity. All these "wants" are literally bankrupting our city/state, and country. It's like the light is on, but nobody is home. Everyone seems to be concerned with running out and asking for a "handout," that is not needed. We need to take care of our needs, not wants.

Maybe we should rename the park.

Standup,I like your comment about decisions being made "in the dark of night." Did you read Kaaren's article "Guest columnist?"

One thing I learned from Jaacobson's article, was that no private offers were or have been made that meet the requirement of 90% "appraised value." This is valid, but should not be used as "the excuse" for Jacobson and the commissioners to do what "they want."

Sounds like there never was a decision to be made. Jocobson and her crew have been working to do/accomplish what they want to do.

After watching the video of the city commission meeting, I was amazed at the lack of ability to run anything this person has. Mind you, I've never met her, but my first impression is not great. She didn't seem to have much of a grip on the law, either. We had a mayor in Manhattan who thought she should model everything we did after Bozeman. She retired, thank goodness! Nice lady, but not equipped for leadership either.
