As the 60th Anniversary of the creation of the State of Israel, maybe a new tactic should be introduced. Every person, of Palestinian blood, every Arab in the borders of Israel, Gaza, West Bank, and any other settlement within Israeli borders should be packed up and shipped off to other nations. You might think that this is harsh, however let me point out to you the Palestinian disregard for life, man, woman, or child. The whole Arab communities disregard for life. The same way we separate different gangs in prison we should separate the Israeli and Palestinians from each other. Ship all the Palestinians to other locations with in the Arab world. Nations have done it all through out time, Czechoslovakia did the Germans after WW2, Turks did to Greeks, and Greeks did like wise. The separation of certain people, even though it may be harsh at the time, ultimately leads to a safer environment. The Palestinians refuse to co-operate with a reasonable plan of co existence, then it is time for a drastic measure.
It isn't like there is no other land the vast treks of land that belong to Syria, Lebanon, Egypt, or even Saudi Arabia would make more than perfect sense to relocate the discontent Palestinian tribesmen. Yet, we continue to allow Palestine to violate not only the rules of war, but also the humanitarian side of life.
In the history of the land that Israel currently sits on, there never was a nation of Palestine. Jews ruled the land off and on until around the year 66 AD. At that time the Romans entered and conquered. They fought several rebellions by the Jews but managed to suppress them for the most part. In the year 132 AD another rebellion was put down and the Romans forced most of the Jews to live else where in their Empire, this would make them less likely to up rise since they were not attached to the land. Over the next thousand or so years a variety of empires would control the land renamed Palestine. Romans, Persians, Byzantine, Arabs, Christian Crusaders, and Ottoman Turks.
In the late 1800's rising anti-semitic feelings in Europe led many of the European Jews to begin their migration to Palestine, a place describe by Mark Twain as, “a hopeless, dreary, heartbroken land . . . desolate and unlovely.” The Ottoman Empire rulers, being disparate for money quickly handed out necessary documents to start their new lives over.
After the end of the First World War the Jews began to come in greater numbers, the control of the region was also turned over to the mighty British Empire. The large flow of Jews into Palestine alarmed the Arab nations, who would quickly adopted a anti-Jewish view of their neighbors. Under British rule, the two sides In 1947, after the holocaust, European continual treatment of Jews following it up, and growing need for a Jewish state the U.N drew up the Partition Plan. The British rejected this idea and continued to hold on to the land. The Jew's formed military groups in response, and the Palestinians did like wise.
The fighting between the two sides had be going on for some time. The British had been trying to mediate it, but with little success. In May the last troops pulled out of the city of Haifa and David Ben-Gurion announced the formation of the first Jewish state. Harry Trueman recognized the new State of Israel followed closely by Joseph Stalin of Russia.
The league of Arab Nations announced that they rejected the proposal of the U.N. And on declared war on the State of Israel. The British placed an arms embargo on the region, nevertheless, the Soviet controlled Czechoslovakia violated the embargo and sent the state of Israel weapons that they disparately needed to counter and match the invading nations armies.
The UN in acted a month long truce which when was over and fighting continued, the Israeli Defense Forces gained the upper hand. Almost a year later, the fighting officially stopped, the nation of Israel was admitted to the U.N. And a border was agreed upon. Egypt and Transjordan grabbed the Gaza Strip, and the West bank, neither nation had any intention of creating a Palestinian state.
Israel's trouble didn't end with the creation of a state. Bickering over different things led to bad blood. On the months going up to June, a water dispute became full blown, when Egypt and Syria began massing troops on the border and Egyptian radio predicted a genocide of Israel. On June 5 Israel launched a preemptive strike against the Egyptian air force. In the war that followed, Egypt, Syria and Jordan were defeated. Also, as prizes of war, they lost the West Bank, Sinai Peninsula, Golan Heights, Gaza Strip, and East Jerusalem. Egypt continued hostilities against Israel by shelling positions. Israel responded by bombing runs deep into Egypt. A uneasy peace was established, with Israel holding their war prizes.
After continued unrest including the Berlin Olympic Massacre, the Jordan government evicting the PLO, and increased Soviet anti semitic feelings, the Egyptians attacked again, in a surprise attack. Armed with their allies the Syrians the surprise attack on the most holy of Jewish days was finally pushed back. The Israeli army crossed the Suez Canal before peace agreement was reached. This was later known as the Yom Kippur War. The PLO which was now headquartered in Lebanon attacked Israel continually until Israel invade and placed an occupational force in southern Lebanon. Lebanon kick out the PLO who moved to northern Africa in exchange for the removal of Israeli forces.
During the Gulf War Iraq fired over 35 scud missiles into Israel. Israel didn't respond but did proved gas masks for both Palestinians and Israelis.
The fact of the matter is this. The Palestinians have rejected peace proposals not because they wouldn't work but because of the fact that foreign powers told them to. Acted out with out rationality and now is time to counter their drastic actions with drastic actions by the civilized world.
