Another one of Bozeman/Mayberry's little "secrets." Oh yes, we give to "arts" to show our sophistication. We have children picking up dog poop at the parks for the Boy's and Girl's Club. (Nothing like indoctrinating children young to clean up after others, under the phoney guise of "community service.") We brag about our great skiing...that NOT everyone can afford. We pay for fancy buses to drive around Bozeman, furthering the "Mayberry" cause...(providing transportation to whom?) But, where's the OUTCRY for those who are homeless and freeze while sleeping outside? Another one of Bozeman's dirty little secret's we're suppose to ignore. Yet look at all the churches filled locally with good, caring, "Christians...," who do nothing. In Bozeman the "donors" like to see their names in the paper, listed for donating to sophisticated things like "arts." Not the homeless... Very sad indeed. |

berrymountain: You are wondering by the title to your post why no one is commenting. The author of the post isn't asking a question or stating an opinion to generate responses. He or she is just doing a post to let us all know of an upcoming event for those who may be interested. And to give an e-mail address to contact him or her if someone is interested. On the kids at Boys and Girls Club picking up dog poop. It may not exactly be saving the world, but I for one appreciate the effort, and I do think it instills the value of community service. It is something with the intent of having a positive impact, just as is the intent with the homeless event. I give (a very little bit) to the arts, but I'm pretty sure those who know me still don't find me sophisticated, and nor do I feel that way. And I certainly don't mistake donations to the arts as charity. There is a difference between charity and a good cause and I think most who donate to both or either understand the difference. And because they understand the difference, my guess is that those who give to the arts because it's a good cause, also give to charity. |

Glad you are able to speak for everyone who donates in Bozeman. Maybe you hadn't noticed? THIS BLOG HAS ONLY BEEN "VIEWED" 19 times! Nobody is reading this "announcement." That makes my point. Few people in Bozeman care about "The Homeless." (That is unless they can get their name in the paper for "contributing," and attend a "social event" preferrably "Black Tie." I can see the names...) Knock off the phony "lecture" pal... Once again, this blog has been viewed 19 times. Uptown business blog, has been viewed over 400 times. Do you get it? One more time. No one cares...sad. |

Both Posted 3 days ago. Project Homeless VIEWED 19 TIMES (2 of which were mine) Downtown in Distress Viewed 416 TIMES (1 was mine) So, Art...This is the way it works. People actually "view" the articles they are interested in. No one was interested in "Homeless." One great thing about this blog, it keeps track of the number of times people "view" it, not JUST COMMENT. Jerk |

the original post was small enough to be read without actually clicking the link. if you are interested in helping the homeless in more ways, this forum would be a great place to let everyone know how.. |

First off, the Boys and Girls Club was raising money and awareness. My son is a member of the Teen Unite Volunteer group and they chose their projects. What a great thing for them to do as teens! THey should be applauded and thanked. Second, the Steamline and Galavan buses take many people to work, to school, to doctor's appt, and to other places they need to go. They take all ages and all abilities. I manage an Independent Living Center and my consumers benefit immensely from this service as do many people throughout the valley. As gas prices rise, more and more people will turn to the public system. and finally, to my main reason for posting. Yes, there is a lack of awareness of the homeless situation in our town. Always has been but to say that no one cares is absurd. Why don't you come to one of our meetings and get involved? Funny, you rail others for not reading or being involved but I don't see you offering to help. There are many of us who are working to bring awareness to this situation and to make changes--too bad your energy is not being put to use helping instead of complaining about how others aren't. Again, if anyone is interested--the Bozeman Continuum of Care meets monthly and PHC planning will be meeting weekly on Thursdays at 11:30am. Feel free to contact me at kcox@milp.us if you care to be part of the solution:-) |

Notice, the FEW COMMENTS? Interesting how this blog disappeared, isn't it? HUH? Bozeman's dirty little secret. Let's face it, those of you who donate so generously (claim of DANIE06) do not donate to the soup van, because it will never get you notariety that you desire... |
