Anyone have any good ideas how to get rental housefuls of students/constructions guys/singles to act responsibly & keep their yards from looking like junkpiles or outdoor storage areas? Help!

Do the landlords know that their houses are being treated like junkpiles? If they landlords don't care then I have no idea what to do other than ask them to please take care of the neighborhood. If that doesn't work...call the trash man?? :D

hide cans of miller lite in the junk...? i'm sure the city has some ordinances that address "nuisance" properties, in terms of health/etc... or?

Neighborhoods change in demographics over time. if you no longer like your neighbors and feel the neighborhood has changed too much for your liking, well then it is time you moved!

Stop trying to make others conform to your memories and expectations.

Oh yes, that's a really intelligent statement. "If you don't like living next to a trash heap, then you should move!"

This may be difficult to imagine, but some people can't afford to just up and move when a bunch of scumbags rent the place nextdoor and trash it. And why should they anyway?

The mentality that a person is wrong for desiring to live in a decent looking and clean neighborhood is so beyond rational comprehension that I can't even imagine your rationale. Maybe you're one of the renters who have trashed your place?
I am sure there is a City Ordinance with regard to this... byBozemaniteNo314233 months ago (0 votes) (report abuse) (reply)
... but with more imortant issues at hand, it is probably not a priority to enforce on an ugly yard.

You should call the city and ask what the regulations are regarding property upkeep. I know, for instance, that you can't let your grass grow a foot tall or allow weeds to sprout wildly in your yard. There are regulations regarding trash storage, etc. But sometimes you have to be like a squeaky wheel, and keep calling until someone does something. Good Luck.

Or you could just live and let be...Sometimes my neighbors are up at 8 or 9 in the morning on sunday or saturday mowing, doing lawn work...jesus, do you really have nothing else to do at 8 am? Maybe like sleep...Don't go to bed so early on friday and you won't get up so early. Also, why water in the summer if you are never home? The neighbors complain that it is ugly, well, I don't bitch and complain about them. That your kids are loud, you waddling around in your short shorts and legs that are screaming for a tan are an eye sore, also, if it get really bad go talk to them or talk to the land lord.
Charge more for rent and include lawn care... byberrymountain1 month ago (0 votes) (report abuse) (reply)
Take a look around. Seems many homeowner's don't care for, or take pride in their own personal residence. Why would anyone believe renters would do better?

If you find a person who will take pride in your rental/lease property, I'd refrain from increasing the rent to hang on to them.

I actually was able to get the place in question cleaned up
by calling the city code enforcement officer
who took the steps to notify the property owner &
followed through til things changed.
So far so good for this summer season!
